these are three orphaned kittens from our barn that we have been taking care of.
from left to right: Saber, Bell, Lina. they are now about a month and a half old, i think.

their mom disappeared about two weeks ago, after giving birth to a litter of five. my sis and i brought the remainder of the litter inside after the two smallest ones moved on :(

i took the opportunity to snap some pictures when they finally calmed down enough to doze in the sunshine.

after they’d been fed and were exploring a bit, they actually managed to do this all by themselves … i was so proud.

our housecat (named Bunny) doesn’t like them at all, but sniffs them anyway.

and lastly, heres an old picture of their mother, Velvet. she was always such a good mother cat, and never minded fostering other litters when their mothers went missing in the past. she seemed a little sick and stopped eating, then disappeared. as experienced mothers like Velvet almost never desert their litters, this probably means the worst.

we’ll all miss her. except for dad, who is indifferent to barn cats.
